Top Voltage Inc. guys

Here’s my list of top voltage guys after playing them for a few years now. List gets updated whenever there’s a good release.

My favourite tropes: bickering couple, cinnamon rolls, younger guy, blushes a lot, equal couple, submissive, caring towards the MC, shy
My disliked tropes: alpha guy, dominant, mean and crude, flirty, forcing themselves on the MC

On with it, as always, spoilers!

DV4qplLX4AENj4n
Guy: Rin Yakumo
Game: My last First Kiss
General thoughts: The fact that the MC is still pining after some dude she hasn’t seen in 6 years and doesn’t really talk to him bugs me, but whatever. That said, the MC has eyes in the CGs!
Rating:

……..CINNAMON ROLL. I love this dude, Rin is my best boy.

Meet Rin, a pastry chef working at a bakery and makes delicious cakes. He and the MC met each other in high school where Rin would make cakes and the MC would happily gobble it up. Six years later they meet again through work.

He and the MC become friends again, especially after realizing they both are in love with someone else. The MC has someone from her company and Rin has someone from the bakery. They act like allies in love, each supporting the other.

And support they do! Rin is a legit good friend of hers, teasing the MC but never being toxic or outright mean. The MC even teases him back and you can make Rin blush a bunch of times. HE BLUSHES SO MUCH IT HITS ALL OF MY BUTTONS.

They spend so much time together and have a lot of scenes. Sometimes Voltage will have like only 30% of the route involving the main guy, but here, Rin is there at 90% of the time. The pacing is great and the romance is oh so believable.

I wish his confession was a little longer, but I’ll take it. Rin Yakumo is the best Voltage guy, hands down. Please play him when you get the chance!

dui
Guy: Dui
Game: Star Crossed Myth
General thoughts: Star Crossed Myth in general is probably my favourite app out of all of them. This is paired with the fact that the MC gets a lot of interaction with the guy you’ve picked. Usually in other apps, the ‘plot’ takes over too much, and it gets boring seeing the MC work all the time – but in SCM, there’s just a lot of constant interaction with your guy. It’s also a fantasy hybrid, which can be fun.
Rating:

My second favourite Voltage guy is the split personality god, Dui. When the MC has to pick a god that will protect her from the baddies, Dui will swoop you up and charm your pants off.

Dui is kind – even though he works in the punishment department, so he hands out punishments to people. But he believes the punishment shouldn’t be made to punish people, but to set them back onto the right path. He has a big heart, and really likes humans.

He’s sweet to the MC and very curious about her. Sometimes a bit of an airhead, but he’s attentive and enjoys the MC’s company. There’s plenty of interaction to be had between the both of you. He’s perfect boyfriend material.

And that’s where the twist comes in: Dui has a split personality, called Shadow Dui. Shadow Dui introduces himself to you by wanting to kill some humans, and eventually tries to choke you as well.

The switch from the nice Dui to the shadow Dui comes and goes, but gets more frequent in the story. Dui is appalled by the fact he’s hurting you, and tries to create some distance between the both of you.

Eventually, you manage to calm down the shadow Dui, who goes from tsun-tsun to dere-dere sometimes. He will profess that he’s actually jealous of the kind Dui, and wishes you could love him as well. The sequel is basically both of Dui’s personalities trying to seduce you, and it really does feel like you have two boyfriends.

All in all, Dui is the perfect gentleman, and Shadow Dui introduces that sweet tsundere element – the best of both worlds, really. Lots of romantic moments were present in his route. I fully recommend his route to anyone.

Guy: Toma Kiriya
Game: Irresistible Mistakes
General thoughts: MC has a one-night stand, but doesn’t know which colleague she fucked. SMH. It doesn’t really seem to come into play all that much during the guy’s routes, bummer. Only with the main guy I guess.
Rating:

Can’t believe one of the newest releases would become one of my all time favourites. Toddler, I mean Toma, is actually not the mean tsundere you’d expect from the description and image.

He wants you to work hard on your project together at work – but that’s only because he says he’s got no talent himself, so he has to constantly keep working hard to make up for being a no talent bum. He is refreshingly honest about this.

The best part about Toma, he does actually bicker with the MC, but guess what? The MC bickers back! Holy mother of god – a Voltage heroine that argues back with a guy. And you know what? Toma really likes it when you do, he gets more and more playful with the MC the further you’re along. Their bickering is light teasing and it’s endearing.

In fact, they have a very healthy relationship together. Toma isn’t constantly insulting the MC, he seems to enjoy her company very much, and acts pretty friendly towards her at times.

For some reason there’s some drama thrown in there at the end where he changes departments because … I can’t remember why exactly, but it was a bullshit reason to stir up some drama. The drama wasn’t needed – his route was plenty romantic and already had an underlying plotline that wasn’t yet resolved, no need to throw in another wrench.

Anyways, Toma is fun and genuine, and definitely a route I recommend to anyone, especially to those that love bickering relationships.

Guy: Shintaro Ando
Game: When Destiny Comes Knocking
General thoughts: I don’t even know wtf the premise is all about. It seems to mostly be an office romance of some sorts.
Rating:

Crap, another guy with glasses. I swear I’m really not biased! I try out every character but these guys just tend to make my list! That said, don’t get Seiya, little fucker has the worst route in that app.

Anyways, onto Shintaro.

Shintaro is the MC’s boss apparently, though I never see him doing anything boss-like, I think he’s simply in a higher position than her at work and they both don’t cross paths. He is extremely friendly and messes around with the MC, joking with her etc. At one point the MC yells out “I’m a delicate flower!” and I burst out laughing.

Oh, and the MC stands up for herself! God damn girl. Best MC so far.
DXvWiCbXcAA-vd5.jpg large

They go out to drink and eat a bunch of times and nothing feels stilted. Shintaro is a guy everyone can get along with. Of course Voltage can’t make this a smooth romance without throwing an obstacle in the way, and that is Shintaro saying “I don’t do office romances.”

And then proceeds to romance the fuck out of MC. Uh-huh, nice going.

But. MC’s friend starts dating him instead. The weird thing is how Shintaro tries to confess twice to the MC while he’s dating her best friend. I don’t know, it felt icky to me. At least dump the best friend before you go after the MC.

Of course, the best friend doesn’t quite like Shintaro because he’s too into ‘common folk food’ (ramen?), while the MC loves that stuff. Shintaro and the MC have a lot of chemistry together and really do suit each other.

I really enjoyed his route. Despite the ‘dating the best friend’ thing, Shintaro was mainly drama free.

Kyo Aizawa
Guy: Kyo Aizawa
Game: Butler Until Midnight
General thoughts: Getting your own personal butler that takes care of you is fun. Having that butler constantly try to make you diet because apparently you’re not thin enough, is less fun. It’s present in all routes, and it really sours my experience. Nonetheless, the routes are fun because there’s a lot of interaction between your butler and the MC.
Rating:

Kyo is the quiet/cool person of the bunch. He’s different from most guys with this stereotype, in the sense that he doesn’t hate women/doesn’t hate you, and is simply a little awkward. He doesn’t want to insult you either, but sometimes being honest means he’ll be a little too forward.

Kyo is the butler that wants to turn you into the best version you can be, and he’s pretty sweet about it. He doesn’t make you work out until you drop dead, he doesn’t make you stay up well past midnight to learn etiquette, he lets you do your thing while he cooks for you and brushes your hair.

He is sweet and very thoughtful – and his route would have been perfect, if it weren’t for the fact they added this weird motivation for him liking the MC. Something about, he saw a picture of her when she was smiling as a little girl, and he wanted to thank her for saving his life with that smile (??).

Regardless, Kyo’s route is sweet and romantic, and he’s basically your very feminine live-in boyfriend.

In the sequel, he keeps getting worried you don’t see him as a boyfriend, but as a butler instead. It’s really cute.

Recommended to people who like the sweet/quiet types.

i_e2061
Guy: Hinata Yayoi
Game: Our Two Bedroom Story
General thoughts: Like this would ever fucking happen, lol. But I’ll handwave the ridiculous plotpoint of being forced to live together. Lots of sweet moments together.
Rating:

Sweet Hinata is younger than the MC and ends up living together with the MC for a while as his apartment is getting renovations or something.

Hinata knows you since childhood and has harbored a crush on you since then, so obviously he’s ecstatic that he gets to live with you. MC however, doesn’t see Hinata as a man at all, but as the crybaby Hinata from her childhood.

Anyways, Hinata is very sweet, though he has this odd moment every now and then, where the writers force him to be ‘aggressive’ to let the MC know ‘he’s a man’ (which comes out of NOWEHRE). Other than that, he’s easily embarrassed and in general, pretty kind to the MC.

It was a very sweet route and I love guys like these.

Seiichirou Hayami
Guy: Seiichirou Hayami
Game: My Wedding & 7 Rings
General thoughts: Rehashed My Forged Wedding, but now you kind of have to marry for real. The two guys added from My Forged Wedding were not my favourites, so I was a little bummed about that. You are basically forced to pick a fiance that will take over as CEO at the company you work at.
Rating:

Seiichirou is the megane who is very precise with his words – and also likes to constantly point out you’re not feminine enough. He’s attentive, but doesn’t beat around the bush with his words.

He is originally not a candidate for you to marry, he’s the one that’s facilitating the process and wants you to hurry up and pick a fiance already. The MC goes a little crazy because everyone is trying to charm her pants off, and she’s having none of that, so she takes refuge at Seiichirou’s place.

Seiichirou keeps giving her tips on how to date, and constantly reminds her she needs to pick someone already. He himself is under a lot of stress because the company is without a CEO, and everyone is blaming him for it.

As Seiichirou hides you as well as pushes you into the arms of another man, you two share some quiet moments together. At one point, the both of you go on a pretend date because he thinks you’re not doing a good enough job at creating a romantic mood, so he’s got to show you how it’s done. You two almost kiss and oh my god – that was a really good scene.

Also, he’s adorable when he’s embarrassed.

Recommended to people who like strict meganes with a soft spot.

voltage_liam
Guy: Liam Kurusu
Game: Love brings You Home
General thoughts: Crazy guy shows up at your doorstep and forces himself to stay at your house. MC has no backbone and doesn’t call the cops. We’re supposed to handwave this.
Rating:

Liam’s route was more palpable to me compared to the others as he doesn’t quite force himself into her home as much as the rest of the guys did. Liam is a harmless puppy, albeit a quiet one.

He’s very subdued and sweet. But also caring and quite progressive. The reason he’s kind of a wallflower is because he got bullied when he was younger. I won’t spoil the reason here because it was a surprise to me!

Either way, he and the MC have great chemistry together. They’re very equal and support each other. Just a very sweet route.

Recommended to people who want to feel safe and pampered.

voltage_tsukasa
Guy: Tsukasa Niregi
Game: In Your Arms Tonight
General thoughts: MC is married but her husband cheats on her. She finds another man to fall in love with. Most stories involve her already being divorced though.
Rating:

What can I say? I like being on top.

In Tsukasa’s route, the MC is already divorced from her cheating husband, but she still wears their wedding ring because she doesn’t want to admit her first marriage ended in a failure. When she meets Tsukasa, he’s under the impression she’s still married.

Tsukasa is a college student, he makes jewelry. He’s energetic and friendly. Except for that one weird random scene where he rejects a previous ex in a really cold way and we never hear from that again. Ok then.

He gets flustered fast when he’s alone with the MC. Since he’s younger than MC, he tries his best to seem more ‘mature’ and ‘put together’ but kinda fails at it. It’s obvious he likes her, but because he thinks the MC is married, he’s just kinda pining for her in the background haha.

Tsukasa eventually helps the MC heal from her divorce and they both come out as better people than before they met. It was sweet. Younger guys are my thing, hence why he and Hinata are in my list here!

Recommended to people who like romancing younger guys while MC is more of an established adult.

Tsumugu Kido
Guy: Tsumugu Kido
Game: Our Two Bedroom Story
General thoughts: Like this would ever fucking happen, lol. But I’ll handwave the ridiculous plotpoint of being forced to live together. Lots of sweet moments together.
Rating:

I actually read his route for free, because damn his first chapter sucked ass, and I was never interested in buying him for real.

Kido here really ticked me off in the first chapter. He basically forces you to pay for EVERYTHING in the house that you were originally going to live in. The MC has no backbone and just goes along with his antics. It was such a turn off, I never bothered to purchase him.

But then I read his next few chapters, and I realized … Kido is actually quite fun.

At work, he is prim, proper, and will smile at you. At home, he’s in his pajamas, has unruly hair, wears glasses, and watches comedy shows. He will constantly poke fun at you, and sometimes you will retaliate.

You’re not supposed to let others know how Kido really is at home.

First I thought, much like the MC, that Kido is a stupid cheapskate who’s got nothing nice to say, but for once, I’ve had my opinion changed.

He can be sweet, adorable, and kind of funny. He’s not always berating the MC, and can have fun with her too.

Recommended to people who like the characters that switch personalities at home/work.
voltage_hazaki
Guy: Hazuki Tojo
Game: Love brings You Home
General thoughts: Crazy guy shows up at your doorstep and forces himself to stay at your house. MC has no backbone and doesn’t call the cops. We’re supposed to handwave this.
Rating:

Another guy from this title. He’s totally different from Liam though. Hazuki is a manipulator and a troubled young man. I usually avoid the ‘sweet devil’ types (look cute, but evil and manipulative inside).

But MC in this route kind of knows what she’s getting into and goes along with it. Hazuki and MC become ‘cuddle buddies’ and sleep in the same bed to relieve her insomnia or something.

I think the part of Hazuki’s route that made me want to recommend it, is the fact he and MC actually have sex BEFORE the climax! There was no love confession, no ending CG – just two lonely people who knew what they were getting into. It was probably the steamiest and realistic scene I’ve come across in Voltage. For that scene alone, I recommend this route.

Recommended to people who like the sweet devil type guy who is flirty but manipulative.

  1. Ooh, I considered giving Seiichirou a chance and now you’re really tempting me! Even though I loved Yamato in My Forged Wedding, I thought his route was only ok, and it was weird seeing him not be the alpha male!

  2. If you love MC’s with character & sass check out “Our Private Homeroom” – she’s super funny, too.
