Worst Voltage guys

I figured since I wrote a Top Voltage Guys list, I should make one for the worst ones I’ve had the displeasure of reading!

Title: Our Two Bedroom Story
Character: Kaoru Kirishima

So Kaoru is the kuudere type. You may notice that I hate really badly written kuudere routes. Kaoru is such a route. Why?

Dead girlfriend trope.

Yep. Kaoru’s route deals with him having a dead girlfriend in his past and that makes him hurt and shy and ugh, fuck off. He smokes as well, also a huge turn off. What a waste of money.

Title: A Knight’s Devotion
Character: Haku

Fuck you.

That’s all that needs to be said. I’m sorry but I don’t like any route that basically sexually harasses the heroine despite her constant attempts at throwing him off, or telling him to stop. The only thing this route’s got going for, is the horse that keeps biting Haku. Go horse. I’d rather date the horse than this molester.

Title: Enchanted in the Moonlight
Character: Yukinojo

Holy shit did this route piss me off. Voltage recommend his route to me because he was classified as ‘gentle’, and I like that type.

First, he almost rapes the MC. She’s crying and saying ‘no’ as he’s trying to strip her and have sex with her. He finally pulls back. WHAT THE FUCK IS GENTLE ABOUT THIS!?

The MC experiences memory loss because she blocks it from her mind and the very next day chats with him about a flower. She’s actually acting friendly with him.

Now want to know the worst part? Dead girlfriend trope. AGAIN. CAN WE FUCKING NOT!?

Title: When Destiny Comes Knocking
Character: Seiya

The worst Voltage guy goes to Seiya. I mean he competes with Yukinojo for this spot, but there’s something about him specifically that pissed me off to no end. You want to know why? This was Seiya’s entire route:

Seiya: “…”
MC: “…”
Seiya: “…”

That’s literally it most of the time. The times Seiya makes even the slightest effort to communicate, it’s through his cellphone. Yep, he texts the MC. In front of her face.

MC is having panic attacks because she can’t talk to Seiya.

This is the worst route I’ve ever played and I’m seriously disappointed at the crappy writing and excuse for a plot. How Seiya’s route and Shintaro’s route can co-exist in the same app, I have no idea.

More reviews on Voltage Inc.’s guys

Obviously, I’ve still been purchasing more guys from Voltage’s games – including from their newest addition 10 Days With My Devil. These are my half-assed reviews because I can hardly remember them, but will try to write from what I do remember.

Read my previous reviews here.

Read more under the cut. SPOILERS EVERYWHERE, BE WARNED.

Text adventures!

I’m kind of tempted to write a text adventure. And if in the unforeseeable future that ever gets finished, I’d turn it into a visual novel.

Obviously, it would be an otome game, meaning you’ll be a girl and have some romancy scenes with guys.

The idea that I had is that instead of making stereotypes for the guys, I’d make stereotypes for the girl (which is you), and the guys would all react to you differently based on your personality. For now, I came up with two types: assertive and passive. And then I take it even further: you can make a good first impression on the guy, or a bad first impression. Having a good first impression while being assertive makes a guy react differently to you than if you made a bad first impression while being assertive.

I could split it up into these possible scenarios:
Good impression + assertive = you will flirt and make romantic moves on your guy, and the guy will be very impressed by you
Bad impression + assertive = you will fight (sometimes physically) head to head with your guy because he now hates you, and your assertive personality makes you not back down
Good impression + passive = the guy will dote on you and feel the need to protect you, and will try to flirt with you more
Bad impression + passive = instead of fighting head on, both of you will be more passive aggressive with each other and will make snappy comments

As you can see, there is no need to create a tsundere stereotype, when I can just go for an assertive personality type and make a bad first impression – and now all the guys will act like tsunderes towards me. Or perhaps you’d like it if your man was assertive and protective of you, you’d go for a passive personality and a good first impression. Or perhaps you’d like the deadpan snarker stereotype, then go for a passive personality with a bad first impression.

My point is; the guys can display all these stereotypes, but it would still play out differently based on their own personality (one guy might try to tackle you if you have a bad first impression with an assertive personality, but another might actually be scared of you!). So instead of there only being one tsundere, they can all display tsundere traits.

Of course, this is still just an idea.

Voltage Inc. Otome games

So I’ve always been a fan of otome games, and lately, there are finally some games being translated to English. Obviously I had to go and buy a bunch of them to support them and show there’s an actual market for otome games outside of Japan. Those games in question are made by Voltage Inc. and are for mobile platforms, so Android and iOS only.

I’d like to review all the games and characters that I’ve played so far, so continue to read on if you’d like! Oh, and LOADS of spoilers, don’t read if you don’t want to be spoiled.

Tokimeki Restaurant

And it’s out on iPhone and Android! Not that I own either of them, and not that I can read Japanese – but still! It’s a free download, you probably have to pay for some in-game things that you want.

Luckily I’ll be going to Japan sometime soon, and I will get an iPhone so I can play this game, hehe. This will be fun.

The game seems focused on running your own cafe or restaurant or whatever, and you’ll meet up with these idols (or should I say you lure them in?) from this boy band. There’s two boy bands; X.I.P. and 3 Majesty. Dumb names, but whatever. Then you go on dates with your favourite castmember. The portraits are Live 2D just like the previous Premium Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side, which is exciting. I love seeing them move.

Some people have already provided a few translations, but I doubt much more will be translated. So basically it’s learn Japanese, or don’t play. Luckily the entire game seems to be voice acted, so you can at least listen to them.

I’ll probably be aiming for Tsuji Kaito and Fuwa Kento.

Here’s the trailer:

Minecraft models

That is so *______*

Just looking at this makes me want to go out and buy one! I wonder how much it would cost to print, hm … but not only that, 3D printing like this based on Minecraft models means you can basically create anything. It doesn’t needed to be little houses or trees, you could make anime characters! Ahh, I wanna try it out.
